I'm off Twitter and out of this thread today to avoid spoilers - we see it on a delayed (but really in the future) broadcast this evening.

I'm not watching. But accidentally saw "breaking" news on MSNBC about a certain award being won by a certain person. LOL said that way just for Bravus.

Was it just me or did the show seem weird this year? Instead of singing the songs, they did some kind of strange intrepretive dance??? Then they had actors and actresses come on stage and majorly build the "best actor and actress nominee's" up so much that syrup was seeping out of our t.v. screen, I don't ever remember that happening before.
The movie that won the most awards I hadn't even heard of until tonight. I am glad that the actress who won Best Actress won, I have always liked her.
I really wish Billy Crystal would go back to hosting, I always thought he did such a fantastic job.

Ah yes, people who pretend to be what does not exist congratulating themselves on how well they do it, and attributing great importance to their accomplishments. The beautiful people. And to think that so many of us here at CA missed it. Rats!!!

Yeah, not that interested in people that just love to glorify themselves. Now that doesn't mean that I've never watched before.

QR frame:
How is it that the largest money gro$$ing movie in Cinematic history gets trumped by one rejected by the hoi polloi?—in terms of tickets sold ($14 million)?—ever! as a major contender for an Oscar... Might it be that it was simply another
'message movie'
serving as platform for the ubiquitous political pontifications of our so-called beautiful elite?
Mebbe, it’s all about ‘artsy’ obscurity, no? Anyways,
I intend renting the DVD :-(

my experience is this..
There are great number of filmmakers who want to make a significant difference in life. At least a couple of the award winning movies will do such.

What? Are you saying that SDAs actually go see movies? My comments about the films were based solely on media comment which has come my way...I have not seen either film and probably will not. Information has come my way that some SDAs do go see movies though. Perhaps the same information has not filtered through to you Dr Rich?

I enjoyed watching the Academy Awards. It was a nice way to wind down the weekend. One of the problems related to living on the other side of the dateline, the Awards ceremony is not a good way to wind down the weekend as it happens during a work day and there is a delayed telecast when most people who care about the results have already heard them on the news !

Just got through watching the documentary on Teddy Roosevelt and the War of 1812 through Netflix. The head pastor of LLU bears a striking resemblance of TR.
