Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

George Jones

Quote:
In 1999, Jones had a terrible automobile crash. He slammed his Lexus into a bridge in Franklin, TN while Drunk for the first time in years. After Jones had his health back from this near-fatal car crash he said he wanted to talk to Vestal Goodman and hear some Gospel Music. Vestal Goodman came out to Jones' ranch and talked to him and this lead to Jones getting saved. After he got saved he and Goodman made a music video of the old Gospel Song "Angel Band." As George, says at every concert now he and Jesus have their own thing going.

I have an interest in George Jones, believe it or not. He was born and raised in Saratoga, Tx, a small rural Texas town not far from my hometown of Silsbee. They are about 12 miles or so apart. Both towns are in Hardin county. In between Silsbee and Saratoga, TX is another small town, nameley Kountze, Texas, the county seat of Hardin County. Some down home George Jones trivia.

Jones He has charted over 150 songs in the past 50 years.

He has been almost equally famous-or infamous-for personal "problems" (whiskey and cocaine) that he has outlived, as well as problems shared with other folks-three ex-wives, including singer Tammy Wynette. Her autobiography became a TV film.

Born in 1931 near Kountze, Texas, in a log cabin, Jones grew up in an impoverished family who, like many country folks, didn't know-or admit-they were poor.

Jones faced hardship early on in his life. His arm was broken when he was born. One of his sisters, lacking proper medical treatment, died in childhood. Soon after, Jones's father started drinking. His alcoholism may well have affected his son, who became one of the most battered boozers in country music history.

Jones didn't finish high school, and as a young teenager he was already drinking and playing guitar (initially on the streets of Beaumont, Texas.
