Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

If you haven't already, you should go to the Voice of Prophecy web site and download the short video tribute to Wayne Hooper - he's leading a massed choir and orchestra in "We Have This Hope". I also really enjoyed the audio file telling how he wrote this particular hymn.

Thanks for the suggestion, James. I just followed your lead and listened to Wayne Hooper directing a massed choir and congregation, with orchestra and pipe organ, singing We Have This Hope.

I recognized this performance. I was singing in that choir, made up of all (or several of) the church choirs in the L.A. area; and it took place at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA. It was one of several VOP services celebrating their 75(?) years of radio broadcasting.

He still looked hale and hearty then, didn't he! It couldn't have taken place more than three (maybe 3 1/2) years ago.

One of my favorite songs is "A Song of Heaven and Homeland"
which we sang a lot for special programs at Modesto Union Academy in California, when I was in academy there. Sang in the choir all 4 years. Also sang in the Massed choir at PUC 2 years as a Jr. and Sr. in academy and then 2 years as a student at PUC. All 4 years, we sang the Messiah, with Professor Greer directing.
I can still see his face!

At Monterey Bay Academy boys dorm ... we liked "Sound the Battle Cry" "Onward Soldiers" ... Well I don't know the title but those are the words I remember.

I sang in three choral groups there including a group called Maranatha. It was great fun. Lots of fun travel.

I also sang in the choir at PUC and a quartet. What good memories. One person at PUC who could NOT sing was Morris Vendon. But, his preaching made up for it.

Once I got to Loma Linda ... I dropped the fun and got serious with the books.

Where can I get those old hymns on CD? For some reason they have been playing in my head for a while.

Sound the battle cry! See, the foe is nigh;
Raise the standard high for the Lord;
Gird your armor on, stand firm every one;
Rest your cause upon His holy Word.

Refrain:
Rouse, then, soldiers, rally round the banner,
Ready, steady, pass the word along;
Onward, forward, shout aloud, “Hosanna!”
Christ is Captain of the mighty throng.

Strong to meet the foe, marching on we go,
While our cause we know, must prevail;
Shield and banner bright, gleaming in the light,
Battling for the right we ne’er can fail.

O Thou God of all, hear us when we call,
Help us one and all by Thy grace;
When the battle’s done, and the vict’ry’s won,
May we wear the crown before Thy face.
